As in India, classes at AYSF are offered in the traditional Mysore style, an individualized method in which each student learns the ashtanga series one asana at a time. The focus is on personalized instruction, whereby anyone, from beginner to advanced practitioner, can learn and study together in one room at one time.
Ashtanga is a daily yoga practice, a system that calls for discipline and commitment in order to fully benefit from its teachings. Corresponding to Pattabhi Jois’s policy in Mysore, students at AYSF are asked to make a monthly commitment, with a consistent asana practice of 3-6 times per week. It is our goal to teach in the manner in which we have been taught.
